D’s Daniel Tiger Birthday
I am so incredibly thankful for PBS’s Daniel Tiger. Seriously. With 3 little ones at home, I have been so very grateful for a show that the older two can watch occasionally (or maybe a little too much lately) while I tend to their baby brother. I love the shows’ catchy, although sometimes slightly annoying, jingles and the lessons on empathy, kindness, compassion, dealing with emotions, the list could go on and on…
I often catch myself saying, “Remember on Daniel Tiger when Daniel made a mistake, and he said he was sorry and how could he help?” Or, “Boys, we are about to cross the street and remember I want you to stay safe like on Daniel Tiger, ‘Stop, and listen, to stay safe'”. Walking into church, as we approach David’s door, and I know he is going to have a hard time with me leaving I remind him, “Grown-ups come back”. If you haven’t checked out Daniel Tiger, and you are a mom of littles, you should give it a chance.
As David’s birthday was approaching I asked him what kind of party he wanted to have and was very happy when he replied, “A Daniel Tiger party.”
Here are some things we did to make our little 2 year old’s theme wishes come true:
Decorations pictured above! I got a silhouette for my birthday last year and I have loved using it to make banners. I need to branch out and try it on other things, as well. Colored pages can be printed for free off of PBS. com I got the plates, napkins and utensils at the Dollar Tree! Score!
David’s party was at 11 in the morning so we did simple snack foods and a Chick-fil-a tray. I made food labels with the Silhouette software and added some of Daniel Tiger characters to make them festive, pictured below.
We also rented a bounce house for a great deal from a local company for some backyard fun. We are so thankful for 2 years with David, and cannot wait to see what God has in store for his life. If you have any questions, or would like me to send you the food cards or party favor tags, just comment below.
