About the Author

Hi friends! Welcome to Mama Needs a Manual. I am so glad you stopped by.
I am Ashley. Wife to Bryan, Mama to Caleb, David and Ethan (yes, we are ABCDE). I am also a daughter of God, saved by His grace alone. I love coffee, crafting, baking, and curling up on the couch with a good book. Most days are spent chasing our kiddos around and being active whenever I get the chance. I am a professional problem-solver by trade.
A former Calculus teacher turned stay-at-home mom, this blog has become my new “classroom” where I share practical trouble-shooting advice, tips and encouragement. May this be a grace-filled space where you know you are not alone in the trenches!

How We Organize Our Small Playroom

    August 28, 2018 /

This playroom was the first room we set up in our new house. I couldn’t wait to create a welcoming space for our little men. Here is a mini virtual tour: I will start in the left corner and move around the room. I was excited to have a place to hang these picture ledges that double as book display…

7 Tips for an Easy Prep, No Stress Preschool at Home (from a Mom of 3 under 4)

    August 21, 2018 /

I can still remember coming down the stairs in Christmas of 1991 to see that all of my dreams had come true! Santa brought me my very own teacher desk, chalk with chalk holder, chalkboard, gradebook, and basically all of the things in order to play “school” . A couple of years later, when I was in 3rd grade, I…

You have a fussy baby. Or maybe she’s just gassy. Or perhaps, he doesn’t ever sleep and perpetually squirms and grunts. Does your little one suffer from breathing or respiratory issues, acne, eczema, mucousy poo, bloody stools,  skin rash / hives, a need to be carried all the time (kept upright), is he a bad sleeper – short naps during the day and…

The Ultimate Guide to Potty Training: A Failure turned Success and Persevering when things don’t go your way

    July 10, 2018 /

I have to be honest. From the time I found out I was going to be a Mom, there were a few areas that scared me, but the one that topped the list of “things that scare me about motherhood” was Potty Training.   Thus, with our first I put it off nearly as long as possible and kept thinking,…

Easy Biscuit Cinnamon Rolls (but they taste like Homemade and they are Dairy-Free!)

    July 5, 2018 /

I have loved cinnamon rolls since I was a little girl. I can remember taking trips to the mall with my mom and stopping by Cinnabon to conclude our trip. I can still smell the goodness. When we first got married, I made it my goal to find the BEST clone of the cinnabon recipe, and I found one I…

    Light. Love. Life

    July 3, 2018 /

In an effort to clean out our disastrous garage that hasn’t been touched much during the 7 months we’ve lived in our house (we moved 5 weeks before I had baby #3 in 3 years), we decided to hang up the solar screens that have just been sitting there (let’s be real, they were taking up a TON of space).…

Cloth Diapers aren’t just for Hippies, Cloth Diapering 101

    June 14, 2018 /

I never really planned to cloth diaper. Poop, in my washing machine?! Eww…. But, then by God’s grace two of my friends who had babies a couple years ahead of me shared their experiences with me.
